ABOUT ABOUT

Beach Cleaning, Saturday, August 27th

Spanish River Park, Boca Raton, FL.

Join the National Council of State Tourism Directors Alumni Group in giving back to the communities we visit at ESTO.  This year we will be participating in a beach cleanup to assist in the conservation of sea turtles, which are in the nesting season in August.  We will also be raising funds for the ongoing efforts of the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.

Florida boasts some of the most important nesting beaches for sea turtles in the world. Florida's waters provide an important development habitat for many species of sea turtles in a variety of life stages.  All species of sea turtles in the world are either threatened or endangered by many threats today including loss of nesting habitat and pollution.

Our team of volunteers will be convening at Spanish River Park and spend the morning cleaning debris from the beach and protecting sea turtle nests in the process.  Transportation will be provided from the Boca Raton Resort at 8:00 AM Saturday the 27th  with return by noon.  There is limited availability so please secure your ticket today!   All participants must have a TURTLE SAVER ticket to board the motor coach at the restort. These tickets are free.  We are asking all participants to take the next step and adopt a turtle here on this site with a $20 donation to the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.  If you want to make a larger donation, please visit the Gumbo Limbo website at http://www.gumbolimbo.org/Contribute
